Day 37 - 7/15 - The Road to the Whites

South Arm Road - Pine Ellis Hiker Lodging (247.0) to Baldpate Lean-to (265.1)

I am back in the mountains. Since heading south from Katahdin, I’ve been traveling over isolated mountains with some easier walking in between. so most days have been a mix of climbs, descents, and flatter portions. Today, though, was up and down with no respite. I am just about two days from officially entering the White Mountains, and the terrain has already begun to get steep.

As I went over Moody, Wyman, and finally, Baldpate Mountains, I did get some nice views. Another perk of the constant climbing is being able to see where I’ve come from and where I’m headed, which is pretty neat.
