Rest day at Shaw’s Hiker Hostel, Monson, Maine after 100 Mile Wilderness.

Blueberry Pancake Cairn

After the marathon yesterday, I decided a rest day was in order. It started with the excellent breakfast at Shaw’s, which included a blueberry pancake cairn. Then I got on with my chores: laundry, washing shoes, and getting more food. Luckily most hostels have washing machines and clean loaner clothes to wear while all of your actual clothes are in the wash.

Moosehead Lake

For lunch my dad and I drove over to the neighboring town of Greenville, on the shore of Moosehead Lake. We explored the shops a little bit, and then headed back to Monson for ice cream. I spent the rest of the afternoon catching up on email and updating the blog. It was a nice relaxing day right when I needed one.
