6/16 Gravel Road (585.1) to Prince Ridge Road (605.1)

25 miles today went by quickly. I got some excellent views and some trail magic (Oreos!!) during the morning. I tried to stop for lunch, but the skies promptly opened, and it started pouring, so I put away my sandwich, tossed on my rain gear, and wolfed down two honeybuns as I got on my way. It's not the greatest or healthiest food, but it's definitely a good source of quick, easy calories for hiking.

The rain only lasted half an hour, long enough to soak my pants and shoes but not so long that the trail got muddy or turned into a stream. As I walked on for the afternoon, my clothes mostly dried up, and I enjoyed the cooler, less humid weather. I crossed a wooden suspension bridge over a creek right at the end of the hike, which was very cool.

I also went swimming in a nearby creek by a waterfall to finish the day with a nice cold plunge. The creek was actually called Dismal Creek, but after a long day of hiking it was plenty refreshing. Now back to the hotel to rest up to do it again tomorrow.
