Stealth Camp Site (340.6) – Cherry Gap Shelter (361.7)

The third day started out tough, with some long, steep climbs in the morning. Thankfully though, those climbs took me up to the ridge of the mountains, where I had enough reception to call my grandfather and wish him a happy birthday. The day kept getting better, as I crossed a road around noon and got some trail magic for lunch. Brownies, banana bread, and cold lemonade definitely lifted my spirits (thank you Trail Angel!), and the rest of the day was downhill as well. I crossed over the Nolichucky River and enjoyed expansive vistas at the ridgetop. I set up at Cherry Gap Shelter feeling better than I had the previous two days.
